Kirkman & Conway Inc. (formerly Kirkman & Kirkman) is a full-service independent agency which has been providing personal service and customized insurance programs to individuals and businesses in the Washington Metro area for over 60 years. We have built strong relationships with regional, national and international insurance companies that leaders in their industry.  We're an independent insurance agency - which means we work for you, not an insurance company.   Our staff of experienced, licensed, professionals will personally monitor your insurance throughout the year, not just at renewal.  When you have a claim, we'll work with you and the insurance company all the way through the claims process. We are committed to providing our clients with customized insurance solutions and exceptional service with an emphasis on value. 

Our History
Rumor has it, ours is the oldest independent insurance agency in Gaithersburg.  In fact, if Gwinn Kirkman, Sr. had mailed your policy in 1939, you would have picked it up at the post office (in-town mail delivery was still ten years away).  In 1957, Gwinn Kirkman Jr. returned from the army and joined his father's agency, which had become a full-time enterprise. Within a year Gwinn Sr. passed away, and Gwinn Jr. became the sole proprietor of the family business. Clark Kirkman joined his brother in 1963 and the agency name was changed to Kirkman & Kirkman. 

When Matt Conway joined Kirkman & Kirkman in 1994, Clark was the sole-owner.  Over the next decade, Clark and Matt and the Kirkman staff grew the family-business into a thriving and successful independent agency with a reputation for exceptional customer service.  In 2005, Matt and Clark "switched hats" and Matt assumed ownership of the agency.   Today, Clark continues to sell, service, and consult for the agency. 

In 2007 the agency name was changed to Kirkman & Conway, Inc.   Although the name has changed, we continue to operate as a family business that takes pride in understanding the insurance needs of each individual client.  Our goal is to provide our clients with comprehensive insurance programs with top-rated carriers at a reasonable cost.  We very much look forward to an opportunity to serve you.
